The app is free. No ads, no account, no in-app purchase needed to use it. The only thing that costs money is the cloud AI that identifies items and estimates their value, and you choose how to pay for it.

Identifying items and estimating values uses Google's Gemini. Pick one:

Your own Gemini key

Google's rates paid to Google

  • Create a Gemini API key in Google AI Studio and add it in Settings. Google bills your account at its own prices; Picania takes nothing.
  • On the default model, measured on real scans: a typical photo scan costs about a fifth to a third of a cent. Close-ups, second opinions and card grids cost more.
  • Picania shows the estimated cost of every scan in Manage Items, and of a sale's photos before you analyze them.
  • Choose any Gemini model Picania lists.

Picania Plus Coming soon

$1.99 a month, planned

  • No key needed: a monthly allowance of 608 AI credits. A typical photo scan uses about one credit.
  • Plus Pro: 2,138 AI credits for $6.99 a month, planned.
  • Priced at cost: after Google Play's fee, the price covers the Gemini usage and Picania's server. Picania keeps no margin.
  • The count resets every month; unused credits do not carry over. Cancel any time in Google Play.

Prices are in US dollars. Plus prices and allowances are planned and may change before launch; Google Play shows the final price before you subscribe.

Questions

What is an AI credit?

A quarter of a cent of Gemini cost at Google's prices. Each request is charged exactly what it cost, so a simple scan can use less than one credit and a card grid several.

What if I use neither?

Everything in the free list still works. A photo that needs cloud identification asks you to add a key.

Does Picania sell my data or show ads?
